This formula is made from fresh, undried Scutellaria lateriflora plants which are certified organically grown, and promptly extracted while still fresh and succulent.

Note: S. baicalensis' content of baicalein is primarily in the roots and therefore the dried root has been widely used as a medicinal plant in China for thousands of years for treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, hypertension, hemorrhaging, insomnia, inflammation and respiratory infections.

This extract is made from S. lateriflora. In S. lateriflora the baicalein content is greater in the leaves and stems (the "aerial" part) than in the root. S. lateriflora contains other flavonoids and glycocides, including aglycones and wogonin. These flavones have been reported to have various pharmacological functions, including anti-cancer, hepatoprotection, antibacterial and antiviral, antioxidant, anticonvulsant and neuroprotective effects.*
