Melatonin (Liposomal ) 2 oz
Melatonin is an hormone with biological effects pertaining to maintaining the circadian rhythms which constitute our daily waking/sleeping cycle. It is often recommended by medical practitioners for those who suffer from insomnia; it also is an antioxidant. Long term supplementation has not been researched. Melatonin is created by the pineal gland. It is part of the bio-chemical physiological system of the body that regulates the sleeping-waking cycle due to its capacity to induce drowsiness and lower body temperature slightly. Light coming into the retina, especially blue light inhibits creation of melatonin - whose creation also decreases with aging.
This sublingual formula of Liposomal Melatonin 2 oz - helps to synchronize the biological clock and act as a antioxidant fighting free radicals.
A 2020 review proposed that melatonin protects the macula and protects against age-related macular degeneration by supporting mitochondrial function. Mitochondria are the "energy-producers" of cells, and are essential for cellular health. As we age DNA repair functions, antioxidant activity, and lack of mitochondrial renewal lead to significant increase in free radicals. These changes cause inflammation and premature cell death in the retinal pigmented cells that protect the retina and macula.1
The formulation includes vitamin B6.
